Giovanni sells flavoured snow cones in the park La Sabana.

“I have been selling granizados during forty years now. I like this job. In this park there are sellers who have been doing this for even longer time than me. Just there quite near is a man who was here years before me. We have been working together for a long time in this same park.

Originally I’m from Puntarenas. I moved to San Jose when I was 13 years old. I come here this park almost every day to sell granizados. This is something that I do to earn some money, but I also like what I’m doing. I like selling too. I used to be a driver. I drove buses, cars and trucks… But I got tired of driving. I prefer selling ice cream… and granizados. And people are always really friendly. There is always something to share and chat with the people who spend their time here. They really like granizados.

I like the whole city of San Jose, especially the center. There is really nothing that I wouldn’t like. I also normally like whatever places I’m visiting. I wouldn’t change for anything  the area where I’m living in Hatillo… I would maintain San Jose as it is. Perhaps… make it a bit cleaner, recycle more… and particularly take a good care of the parks.”
